Waco ISD Volunteer Honored with Statewide “Heroes for Children” Award
Jill Anderson

WACO, Texas – Today Waco Independent School District’s (ISD) Parkdale Elementary parent volunteer, Mr. Adrian Musquiz, was recognized in Austin with the Heroes for Children Award by the Texas State Board of Education.

This prestigious award honors individuals who go above and beyond in supporting public education, and Musquiz is a shining example of that spirit. Whether volunteering at events, supporting teachers, or working behind the scenes to help students succeed, Musquiz has made a lasting impact on the Parkdale Elementary community and the entire Waco ISD family.

The award was presented by State Board of Education Member Evelyn Brooks, who represents District 14, during the Board’s September meeting.

“Mr. Musquiz is truly deserving of this honor,” said Waco ISD Superintendent Dr. Tiffany Spicer. “His commitment, energy, and heart for students and staff has made a real difference, and we are so proud to see him recognized at the state level. Partnering with our parents is a top priority at Waco ISD.”

The Heroes for Children Award was established in 1994 to recognize Texas residents who demonstrate extraordinary advocacy and volunteer service in public education. Each year, one recipient is selected from each of the 15 State Board of Education districts. Honorees are recognized for their outstanding contributions to student learning and sustained support for public schools across the state.
