Ms. Colesha Johnson
Greetings! My name is Colesha Johnson, but I go by Ms. Coco. I am thrilled to begin my second year at Tennyson Middle School as your Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Specialist and 7th Grade Counselor.
My journey in education began in 2010 with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Texas, where I served as the Unit Director for Manor Middle School in Killeen ISD. In 2014, I was honored to support our armed forces overseas in Afghanistan, serving as the Camp Mayor and assisting military personnel during their deployment.
In December 2015, I returned to Killeen ISD and joined Communities In Schools of Greater Central Texas as a Site Coordinator, a position I proudly held until October 2023. I then transitioned to Austin ISD, where I served as an SEL–Cultural Proficiency and Inclusiveness (CPI) Specialist from October 2023 to June 2025.
Now at Tennyson, I bring over 16 years of experience in education and student support. My passion lies in helping students cultivate emotional intelligence, build resilience, and recognize their strengths so they can thrive both academically and behaviorally.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Sam Houston State University (2005), and a Master’s degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling from the University of Mary Hardin–Baylor (2021).
I am excited to partner with our students, families, and staff to create a supportive and empowering school environment where every student can succeed.
