6th Grade

My name is Devina Derrick and I am the 6th grade school counselor for the 24-25 school year.  This is my first year at Tennyson Middle School and my fifth year as a school counselor.  Before becoming a counseling, I taught 6th grade ELAR for three years.  I am a native of North Carolina and I received a Bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University in Communication and a Master’s degree from Liberty University in Human Services Counseling.  

Building relationships is the most rewarding aspect of being a school counselor and my goal is to build positive relationships with students while supporting their academic, personal, and social/emotional development.  I am thrilled to be a Tennyson Texan and looking forward to working with and serving all students, families, and staff here at Tennyson Middle School.

Outside of school counseling, I enjoy spending time with my family: my husband Ron and our three children, Zya (18), Ronald (16) and Ava (9).
