Dr. Bianca McVade
Bianca McVade has been in education for the past eight years. She grew up in Killeen, Texas and later went on to play college volleyball at Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas, where she received her Associate Degree in Science. Dr. McVade continued her collegiate volleyball career at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. There, she received her Bachelor of Science degree and her Master of Education degree in Educational Administration. In Spring of 2023, Dr. McVade received her Doctoral degree in P-12 Educational Leadership, where her dissertation study focused on the perspectives of Black male elementary school teachers in public education.
Dr. McVade’s passion to help children led her into her teaching career. She taught 8th grade math and Algebra I for 3 years at Lamar Middle School in Temple, Texas. Throughout the course of her time at Lamar, she served as the Team-Lead, Math Department Head, and CAS Coordinator. She has led district professional developments on classroom management, structure of middle school math for new teachers, aggressive monitoring, data trackers, and classroom playlist. She transitioned into the elementary world and was a 5th grade math teacher at Raye-Allen Elementary School in Temple, Texas.
Dr. McVade then stepped out of the classroom and served as an Instructional Coach at Clements-Parsons Elementary School in Copperas Cove ISD. During that time she found a new passion in curriculum and instruction & developing teacher’s self efficacy. The following year, Dr. McVade became the district K-8 Math and Science Curriculum Coordinator, where she created district-wide assessments, monitored implementation of curriculum, and created district math scope and sequences. She also helped develop curriculum for the Grow Your Own program in Copperas Cove ISD, which was designed to assist paraprofessionals receive their Bachelor’s degree and teaching certification, while also giving them classroom experience.
Dr. McVade takes pride in being an advocate for students and pushing them to reach their best potential, inside and outside of the classroom. She is excited to be a part of Tennyson and looks forward to helping maintain a positive school culture. Dr. McVade currently resides in Temple, Texas, and is married to her husband, William McVade.
